Death of A Salesman Movie

If I were casting a movie on Death of a Salesman I would cast each character based on my opinions of them in the original drama.  For Willy and Linda I would cast the Foreman parents from That 70’s Show (Red and Kitty). I would possibly cast Happy as Ashton Kutcher and Biff as a slightly more attractive Adam Sandler.
The reason why I would cast Willy as Red from That 70’s Show is because he seemed to have a temper that matched Willy’s. Red was often on his son’s case about what he wanted him to do. He also experienced some difficulties with his job and achieving success in the show. I feel this makes the two (Willy and Red) comparable because Willy seems to place a lot of importance on achieving success for himself and also through his sons. Also Red seems to be assertive with his son, but not as assertive in his career, as seen on some of the shows. Willy seems to be like him in this way to, because he is assertive at home, but not as assertive in the work place as evident from his lack of success.
The reason I would cast Linda as Red’s wife Kitty, is because she seems to be very traditional and maternal. I interpret Linda to be a very maternal and traditional women; perhaps the stereotypical housewife in that particular time setting. It seems interesting how she does not often stray from her role as a typical housewife, and she is quite predictable. She is faithful and compassionate.
The reason why I would cast Happy as Ashton Kutcher is because both are in a sense, womanizers. However I speculated on hypothetically casting him as Bradley Cooper, because he seems to have the type of ora that would make him a kind of smooth and successful guy. And I got that although Happy was not extremely successful, he seemed to be the most professional out of the bunch.
Casting Biff was the hardest part for me because I felt like he should be one of the star quarterbacks out of a football movie, however I just don’t know enough about those types of movies. I chose Adam Sandler (waterboy?) only because I have seen many of his movies and he seems to resemble Biff in a sense that he likes to make jokes. There was also a movie that I cannot think of the name of that he started out very unsuccessful- Maybe a few.

“The American Dream” holds various definitions, according to dictionary.com these include:
1.
the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American.

2.
a life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by individuals in the U.S.

 3.
the notion that the American social, economic, and political system makes success possible for every individual.
The whole idea of the American Dream was probably originated from immigrants first arriving in early America seeking a better life, job opportunities, and to be free of religious prosecution. The founders of America shaped the American dream by instilling their beliefs of how government should be run.
Many people think of Hollywood and L.A. when they hear “the American Dream”. Some of my own imagery that comes to mind when I hear the words “American Dream” is the image of riding down a road trimmed with palm trees in a pricey convertible, and also the image of sun bathing while being served pina colodas. Basically the American Dream sometimes means to become wealthy. But to many it goes a lot deeper.
I believe that the American Dream has a differing meaning depending on the individual. For an immigrant, the American Dream is a chance at a different life, many times a much better one than they, or their children, could ever have in their native country. For me, like many other college students, the American Dream is the opportunity to pursue my dreams, and make a comfortable living for my future family. My personal American dream is to have a career that helps others, and also to be honest (and this is a bit more shallow) a nice big house, and lots of nice things for me and my family. No matter what one’s specific “American Dream” is, it has one consistent theme, and that is success. It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to achieve success even if some of us were not born wealthy.

Here are some images that came up when i typed in "The American Dream" into Google:

It seems as though Americans are beginning to doubt the notion of the American Dream.
